Board

Kerrin Flanagan (Marketing and Communication Chair)
Email: news@neighborsforneighbors.orgA kindergarten teacher by day, Kerrin is an expert on communication. Kerrin has lived in the Boston area since 1998, and in JP since 2003. She founded NFN’s longest-running social group, the JP Women’s Book Group, in 2005, and joined the NFN Board in 2007. As the resident NFN grammar queen, Kerrin has taken her red pen to enough of Joseph’s writing over the years to finally just write the NFN email newsletter herself. Kerrin is always looking for ways to get to know her neighbors and connect with the neighborhood she loves, and she is always looking for new and better ways to communicate the vision and mission of NFN.

Jon Rivers (Technology Chair)
Email: technology@neighborsforneighbors.org

Jon Rivers, NFN’s man of mystery, was born and raised in England, moved across the pond in 2001, and made JP his home in 2004. Since living in JP, he has been very active in the community. Jon helped build a 100+ neighborhood group called Forest Hills Neighbors and has also worked on various other community groups including NFN before joining the Board in 2007. With over 18 years of information technology experience, Jon still continues to look for new and exciting ways NFN can communicate effectively and grow using the best and easiest technology available.

Jenny Jones (Product Development Chair)
Email: jennyj1s@comcast.net

Jenny Jones has lived in JP for three years, she leads the Paul Gore Neighbors crime watch group, and has been active in Neighbors for Neighbors since it started. She coordinates the volunteers and promotion for Neighbors for Neighbors events and serves on the Board committee to develop the Neighbors for Neighbors product.

Stacy Carpenter (Research Committee Chair)
Email: stacycarpenter@comcast.net

Stacy’s involvement with NFN began with the request for “project management” for an event. With the positive feedback and support of the community (and Joseph’s pleading), leaving was not an option. She hopes one day to carry the organization to her home territory of Worcester, MA. When not tasking for the other NFN committees, she can be found outside or making excuses why she should be in the woods poking at slimy critters. Her day job as a project manager/wetland scientist at a private firm generally allows this indulgence. In her spare time, she knits, reads and attempts to keep her two hounds from treeing every squirrel and cat in the neighborhood.

Amanda Roberts (Treasurer and Finance and Administration Chair)
Email: amatile35@comcast.net

Amanda Roberts has served as a member of the Board, Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee and Treasurer since December 2006. Amanda has been the Senior Director of Compliance and Grant Finance of United Way of Massachusetts Bay, Inc. located in Boston, Massachusetts since November 2002. From January 1999 until November 2002, she worked as a senior auditor for the CPA firm, Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker, headquartered in Portland, Maine. Amanda also served on the Board of Directors, and as Treasurer for Child Care Services of York County from 2000 until 2002. She enjoys cooking (hates baking), reading the Internal Revenue Code, and spending time with family and friends.

Joseph Porcelli (Board Chair)
Email: jporcelli@neighborsforneighbors.org

In August of 2004, Joseph’s life and experience of community transformed when he founded Neighbors for Neighbors. Soon after, his groups of friends began to expand as did his city-wide contacts. In January of 2006, the Boston Police Department invited Joseph to join the Neighborhood Watch Unit where he is currently incorporating community building and new technology initiatives into the program. In 2007 Joseph started the Nametag Project which has gained national recognition and, together with the Boston Police Department, produced Nametag Day at Fenway Park. In 2008 he is heading up the Mug Project and initiative working to reduce waste from disposable beverage containers.
