We need your help!

Friends,

While Facebook is great for connecting and sharing with friends and building your organization’s fan base, it’s hard to find out about, get involved in, or start something in your neighborhood.

But what if there were neighborhood-centric social networks for each of Boston neighborhoods? What if all the content was generated by the neighbors who live there and by the organizers, non-profits, and social service agencies that serve the neighbors? What if there were neighborhood zone groups where neighbors who live near each other could communicate about happenings like yard sales, clean ups, and crime?

Sounds pretty cool right?

Good news – these networks exist…. and for every Boston neighborhood!

We need your help to pump these networks full of content and serve as network ambassadors so that when your neighbors arrive – they are greeted with lots of neighborly activity. Think of it like a school dance – no one will dance unless there are people dancing – let’s get this party started!

Join your neighborhood’s network now at www.neighborsforneighbors.org

SPECIFICS:

After you’ve joined your neighborhoods network please:

  1. Start postings, blog, events, discussions, photos, and videos to fill the networks with content.
  2. Join the “Network Ambassadors” group in your neighborhood network and reply to roles and discussions of interest – We’ll get right back to you.
  3. Invite others you know who live and serve in the neighborhood to be a network ambassador. Feel free to forward this email.
  4. In the coming weeks, as we role them out, please help create your neighborhood zone group map by giving feedback on what the sections of your neighborhood are called and where the boarders are.

BACKGROUND:

About Neighbors for Neighbors, Inc:

Founded in 2004, in response to assaults in our neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, we began by hosting Neighborhood Socials to connect neighbors to each other then evolved to host Community Organizing Expos where neighbors create groups to keep them together.

Today we create neighborhood-centric community generated social networks for Boston Neighborhoods that serve as a soundboard for voices and a springboard for action.

ABOUT THE NETWORKS:

We built these networks because we saw a need and felt compelled by what we’ve accomplished with our pilot neighborhood. Our online organizing platform drives offline engagement.

This has not been an easy task and there is still more work that needs to be done. At the moment, most of the networks are shell’s – that’s where you come in. Please join your neighborhood network now and pump the networks full of content, and join the Network Ambassadors team - www.neighborsforneighbors.org.
