JP Centre/South Main Streets Newsletter
Business Fire Fund, First Thursday and Plant a Tree

Greetings!

JP Centre/South Main Streets is working with the City of Boston, other organizations and the community to help businesses affected by the recent fires in Jamaica Plain. We have established a fund to raise money to help these businesses reestablish themselves and will be organizing a fundraiser as well. You can make donations to the fund at many local businesses including Centre Street Cafe and Gadgets, or by mailing a check to JP Centre/South Main Streets, PO Box 302712, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130. Please make checks out to the the Fire Fund.

To date, the 2006 First Thursdays series has been a tremendous success. We are thrilled to present a full program with more than 30 art openings, poetry open mic, and a number of musical performances this Thursday, September 7th, from 6 to 8 pm.

This month 4 new businesses will be sponsoring openings. Be sure to stop by and visit: Alchemist Restaurant and Lounge (Relena Erskine, photographs), Urban Medical Group (Jude Hutchinson, photographs), Jamaicaway Books and Gifts (Mim Adkins, photographs) and Countrywide Home Loans (John Swan, photographs). Continue reading below for highlights and visit our website for a complete listing of artists and events.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out this Thursday evening with First Thursday and Countdown to Kindergarten, as well as with our many other events and activities. Please contact Sharon if you are interested (sharon@jpcentresouth.org).
